I never thought I would have to write this, because it seems so obvious to me. But I guess that may sound a bit arrogant—cause there isn’t only one truth, after all. At least not just one perspective. People don’t all think the same way.
Standing up for the Palestinian people does of course not mean I have anything against the Jewish people. I cannot know what a person believes, thinks, or feels based on nationality, ethnicity, or religion. The very idea is absurd to me. You cannot know what I think and believe because I was born as a Swedish citizen. I hope that if we meet, you will not judge me by how the Swedish government acts (or fails to act). As an individual I have very little power to influence that.
But regarding Gaza; Israel is one of the UN’s member states that is committing terrible war crimes and genocide — and (almost) no other state power is trying to stop this; instead it is happening with the support and silent consent of the majority (people in power) in the Western world. How news media (fail to) report is totally scary. Swedish government has not acted in opposition to Israel or openly condemned that state’s actions. There is a very clear difference in how it responds compared with Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Even in that case the world’s passivity and impotence are frightening. How can we allow this to happen in the 2020s? Sorry to say, but it is all about the money, isn’t it?
In everything I do and say I stand by the UN Declaration of Human Rights — which almost all the world’s countries have agreed on, at least in theory. This agreement expresses many of the values I hold in a good way. When I vote politically I try to find the party that best approximates these values in practice. I am against all violence; I am a hundred percent a pacifist. Ideally I would wish that all decision-making took place through meetings held in silence and full presence, after the storms of thought have calmed. No one can become free within the Matrix.
How can bringing aid be classified as terrorism? How can standing up against genocide be a crime? We have coward world leaders, but what is really happening to the mainstream media? All who is silent must rise now. No one can afford to remain in oblivion in times like these. If we allow what is happening now, we too are violating every human rights agreement. We need all the expressions of love and peace. The warmongering people will continue until they are stopped, or until every resistance is gone. Not everyone can become an activist, but everyone can support those who are. The ones who take it upon them selves to stand in the frontlines – for life on Earth and human rights. We can all rise for peace, where ever we are.
With a total support for the Global Sumud Flotilla; I must say I don’t understand this world
